This is Chhotu Sayami, he visits the BeChild School since 2007 and should go from this month to a governmental school. Unfortunately he had to go to hospital for a knee operation. He is one of three children, his father passed away a few months ago and his mother works as a servant to have a little money to survive. Because she has to pay the costs of the operation she is deeply in dept. We want to help them, please donate or sponsor regularly.
The students of BeChild schools made the pictures of this presentation. They have used the cameras, which are donated by our supporters from USA.
April 2009
A year ago we admitted 25 new children into our school project, we are now taking care of 75 children in three school classes.
After the third class the students will visit a governmental school. But because they have visited classes one and two, they also will join our school in 2009.
The school subjects for class 1 are Nepali (reading, writing), English and mathematics, in classes 2 and 3 the subjects are science and social studies.
Further activities are offered like dance class, gym, art, and spelling and quiz contests. These subjects are very popular and the children have a lot of fun.
Our aim is to send these pupils directly from class 1 to a governmental school, which is also the preferred aim our Director, Ms.Jambubati K.C. of the nearby Shree Krishna Secondary School, because it is also her opinion, that every child, rich or poor has the same right to education.
The new Parliament of Nepal has decided, that education during the first five school years will be free except for the fee for a twice-yearly examination.
But in reality this is not the case. Up until now the parents have had to pay for everything like school fees, books and school uniforms. Ms. Jambubati K.C. has promised us, that she will talk to with the relevant authorities to get a positive result on the Nepalese governments decision that education should be free.
(which they have yet to implement)
Now that a new school year has started, 50 children will join class 2 and 25 children class 3. The teachers are all trained for their new assignments, because for the first time they will teach a 3rd class.
The economic crisis has also arrived in Nepal. The price of food has doubled in one year, and the averaged income of 1 US $ a day still remains the same.
So for the parents it is even more difficult to send their children to school, although they wish for them a better future than they have had.
And here we are in demand. Could we who still live a comfortable life, not knowing how to live without enough food, clean water, electricity, a warm home and without any prospect of a better life make a donation however small to help these children in one of the poorest countries on earth?
These children are the people of tomorrow who will have to govern their country. Please give them this chance because knowledge is the first step to the creation of a healthy national economy.
